Wisconsin is among the highest-taxed states in the nation—10% above the national average. We continue to increase the burden on residents with higher fees for services and licenses such as automobile registration, driver’s license, and real estate transfer fees.
Wisconsin faces hard choices with the almost $3 billon deficit ahead of it. We cannot continue to spend money we do not have or to take money from one fund to subsidize another fund. These are practices that are not permitted in local levels of government or in our households, and they don’t make any more sense for the state.
Personal and business taxes are already too high. We must allow individuals and businesses to keep more of their own money to invest in their own families and enterprises. This is not only the American way of life, it is the most efficient way to stimulate our economic growth. I join both Republican gubernatorial candidates Scott Walker and Mark Neumann with their pledge to not raise Wisconsin taxes.
